Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei's fatwa brings a turnabout change in the viewpoint of famous Lebanese extremist Sunni regarding Shia Muslims.

Omar Bakri Muhammad, a Syrian born radical Islamist, feels a complete change in his view of the Shia Muslims following Iranian spiritual leader's fatwa and Seyyed Hassan Nasrollah's admiration of the fatwa, according to Taqrib News Agency (TNA).

In a live program on Al jazeera TV network, Omar Bakri Muhammad said," I called the Shia Rafida(a collective name meaning defactors or deserters, an abusive nickname here used to refer to Shia Muslims) and thought that they excommunicated the companions of the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) but since I heard the fatwa by Ayatollah Khamenei, I have changed my stance regarding Shia and Hezbollah.

Omar Bakri Muhammad is an Islamist leader and an instrumental factor in formation of Hizb ut-Tahrir in the United Kingdom before his leaving the group for another Islamist organization Al-Muhajiroun.

Ayatollah Khamenei's statement banning any desecration of household of the prophet Mohamad (PBUH) was welcomed among both Shia and Sunni Muslims, making a unifying landmark between two main Islamic schools of thought and arousing the admiration of many Sunni Muslims.
