Iranian cleric replies religious aspect of presidential election
With less than a week to Iran’s Presidential election, top jurisprudent related on religious aspect of the event calling the people for a heavy turnout and not casting blank votes.

Grand Ayatollah Nasser Makarem Shirazi, senior Iranian jurisprudent, attended live radio program to answer the questions on religious side of upcoming Presidential election saying that the system of Islamic Republic, independence and glory of Iran is dependent on the event, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
He demanded the people to make the best choice among the present options and avoid casting blank votes.
Professor at Qom Seminary also criticized any futile promise by presidential candidates during their campaigns and called the nominees vow what they can really do when elected particularly to employ the right wording regarding the promises during their campaigns.
Ayatollah Makarem also rejected defaming the candidates in public and said,” It is not permitted to do negative campaign against a candidate in public.” and added,”It is also a sin, in Islam, to spread baseless rumors about a person, a big sin, which according to the teachings of Qur’an, has certain punishments.”
Eleventh Presidential election in Iran is scheduled to be held on Friday June 14th with eight candidates to compete for leading the executive branch in Iran.
