Iran’s Parviz to compete at Golden Apricot Film Festival

Iranian feature length movie Parviz directed by Majid Barzegar is set to compete at the 10th Golden Apricot International Film Festival in Armenia.

The movie has been selected to contend for award at the competition section of the festival held in the capital city of Yerevan.
Centered on family relationships, the film depicts the story of a man at his fifties, Parviz, who has spent life in his father’s home and has never had a job. His quiet routine suddenly comes apart when his father decides to remarry and tells him to move out.

Barzegar’s screen production competed at the New Directors section of the 2012 San Sebastian international film festival in Spain.

The movie was also presented at the 2012 edition of Thessaloniki International Film Festival in Greece.

Iranian director Salem Salavati’s documentary The Last Winter is the country’s other screen representative at the 2013 Golden Apricot festival.

This year’s Yerevan film festival is to host 200 films, from which 90 movies will be screened in the four competition sections of Feature, Documentary, Armenian Panorama and the Apricot Stone (short films).

Established in 2004, Golden Apricot Yerevan Film Festival is annually held and dedicated to the theme of Crossroads of Cultures and Civilizations.

Academy Award winning Iranian director Asghar Farhadi’s A Separation was the festival’s top winner in 2011.

The 2013 Golden Apricot Yerevan Film Festival kicked off on July 7 and will run until July 14, 2013.
