“We expect Yemeni officials to pursue the case more seriously and make it have a happy ending,” Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said on Saturday.
Amir-Abdollahian said an Iranian delegation would soon arrive in Yemen to investigate the kidnapping of Nour Ahmad Nikbakht.
Tehran is confident that Nikbakht is in good health, he stressed.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry has already summoned the Yemeni chargé d'affaires twice to express Tehran's grave concern over the fate of the diplomat and to remind Sana’a that it is responsible for guaranteeing Nikbakht’s safety.
Iran has slammed the “inhumane” abduction of the Iranian diplomat, urging the Yemeni government to do more to secure his release.
Nikbakht, an administrative staff member of the Iranian Embassy in Sana’a, was travelling in the city's diplomatic quarter on July 21, when armed men blocked the road, forced him to get out of his vehicle and took him to an unknown location.
