“The UN is the only peacekeeper on earth; it involves the voices of all the people. All of our interventions have been failures for the people of the countries we intervened in,” Clark told Press TV.
“US intervention is for wrongful proposes and impermissible and has to be resisted,” he said.
Clark was attending a conference in Lebanon’s capital, Beirut to show his support for the Syrian people and his opposition to US military intervention in Syria.
Amid political tensions in the region, religious leaders, politicians and activists from various parts of the world gathered in Beirut to support the resistance front and express their opposition to the US military intervention in Syria.
Clark also denounced possible US military action in the Arab country and US military interventions in other countries.
During the conference, analysts expressed optimism about the future of Syria. They believe the Syrian government can benefit from a US-Russia agreement.
The United States and Russia agreed to put Syria’s chemical weapons under international control. The agreement has for now cooled off the war rhetoric in the region.
The administration of President Barack Obama has accused the Syrian government of using chemical weapons in an attack near capital Damascus on August 21.
Damascus has categorically rejected the allegations and even Obama’s top aide, White House chief of staff Denis McDonough, has admitted that Washington’s claims are based on a “common-sense test” not any “irrefutable” evidence.
