Fereydoun Abbasi, the head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), unveiled the nuclear achievements during the April 9 ceremony in the presence of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

Abbasi announced that a unit for producing uranium dioxide with nuclear purity has been launched at the fuel enrichment plant in the central city of Isfahan.

Uranium dioxide is used to produce nuclear fuel for the heavy water reactor in the city of Arak.
Among the other nuclear achievements announced at the ceremony was the production of stable isotopes at the Arak reactor and new radio medicine, both of which have medical and research applications.

During a speech at the ceremony, Ahmadinejad hailed Iran's peaceful nuclear achievements, saying they show the “Iranian nation cannot be defeated” in the face of threats and sanctions.
“Trust in God and unprecedented unity among the Iranian nation is the key to our achievements,” he said, stressing that the “enemies” cannot deprive Iran of its “dignity, independence and self-reliance.”

“Not only should we be able to use all our capacities and potentials in nuclear technology, we should also export nuclear know-how,” Ahmadinejad said.

The official ceremony at the AEOI was attended by senior Iranian officials.
