Iran’s Ahlul Bayt Assembly slams anti-Muslim tensions in India
Top Islamic body in Iran has denounced the crimes by Hindu extremists committed against Muslim community in India.

Iran’s Ahlul Bayt (AS) World Assembly has issued a statement to denounce the new wave of violence against Muslims in India stressing that the democracy in India has failed in beginning levels, Taqrib News Agency (TNA) reported.
Ahlul Bayt (AS) World Assembly in this statement said,” Following US President Donald Trump visit to India and his hostile remarks against Muslim community in the country, thousands of extremist Hindus sparked sectarian violence carrying arson attack against Mosques and properties belonging to Muslims leaving 35 people dead and over 200 wounded.”
The statement referred to the new citizenship law which imposes tough restrictions for millions of Muslims living in the country and slammed the new regulation which exempts citizens from other countries from the new law.
Ahlul Bayt (AS) Assembly denounced the situation beyond segregation and painful to every liberal mind.
The statement also rebuked Indian security forces for inaction towards the Hindus attacking Mosques, educational and religious centers and also setting their homes on fire as well as detaining the religious and scientific figures making the new wave of violence as one of the worst of its kind in the recent decades.
Iran’s Ahlul Bayt (AS) World Assembly expressed deepest regret over the inhumane situation for Indian Muslims calling on the government to follow the international and human rights regulations in regards to the Muslim community living in the country.
Anti-Muslim violence began in India amid widespread protests over a citizenship law that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Hindu nationalist government introduced in December 2019, offering a path to Indian citizenship for six religious groups from neighboring countries, specifically excluding Muslims.
