Pakistan slams Charlie Hebdo reprinting of Prophet Mohammad caricature

Pakistan Foreign Ministry has issued a message to denounce the republication of sacrilegious caricature of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) by French satirical paper Charlie Hebdo.

Pakistani Foreign Ministry in its message has denounced the reprinting of much controversial caricatures against Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) to mark the beginning of trials of terror attacks against its offices back in 2015, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
 
"#Pakistan condemns in the strongest terms the decision by the French magazine, Charlie Hebdo, to re-publish deeply offensive caricature of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)" ran part of the tweet by Pakistani ministry.
 
French weekly had drawn controversy by publishing sacrilegious cartoons of the prophet of Islam in 2006, 2011 and 2012.
 
The Foreign Ministry has also condemned the move for offending Muslims across the globe saying," "Such a deliberate act to offend the sentiments of billions of Muslims cannot be justified as an exercise in press freedom or freedom of expression. Such actions undermine the global aspirations for peaceful co-existence as well as social and inter-faith harmony."
 
French weekly announced on Tuesday the decision for reprinting the cartoons to mark the beginning of the trial of alleged accomplices to the attack when two brothers Said and Cherif Kouachi went on shooting spree at the Charlie Hebdo office in Paris in January 2015.
