"Combatting terrorism, major concern for Gen. Soleimani", ex-envoy
Iran's former ambassador to Azerbaijan said stemming terrorism is the prelude to establishment of peace stressing that the major pursuit for Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani was combatting terrorism.

Mohsen Pakaeen, Iran's former ambassador to Thailand and Azerbaijan, attended the second panel of the international conference on General Soleimani and new Islamic civilization held on February 16 to slam some countries claiming to support peace as true sponsors of terrorism and stressed in order to establish peace, terrorism should be firstly stemmed, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
He said," General Soleimani firmly believed Takfiri and terrorist groups as the anti-peace agents who were brainchildren of the US, sponsored by Saudi funds and fought by Israeli support."
Former diplomat lauded assassinated commander of IRGC Quds Force for paving the way for peace in the neighboring and western Asian countries and slammed the US for reviving Takfiri groups.
He said," Withdrawal of the American forces from the region and Afghanistan is in direct relation with transfer of the terrorist groups and efforts to revive them."
Mohsen Pakaeen referred to the US decrease of military forces and growth of the terrorist groups in the region which lead to destabilization of the Middle East.
The speech by former Iranian diplomat was part of the online conference by Iranian Cultural Followers Association held on February 16, 2021.
