US lawmaker files legislation to block first Saudi arms deal under Biden
Democratic US representative Ilhan Omar has filed legislation to block the sale of $650 million arms to Saudi Arabia, the first arms deal with the Arab kingdom under President Joe Biden.

US congresswoman stressed she filed the legislation known as a joint resolution of disapproval because of Saudi Arabia's role in war against Yemeni nation.
Joe Biden administration announced on November 4 that it had approved sale of 280 air-to-air missiles valued at up to $650 million.
In her statement issued on Friday, Ilhan Omar, said," We should never be selling human rights abusers weapons, but we certainly should not be doing so in the midst of a humanitarian crisis they are responsible for."
She also stressed, "The congress has the authority to stop these sales, and we must exercise that power."
US State Department had approved an arms deal with Saudi Arabia about which the Pentagon notified the Congress on November 4.
The deal has been made amid the Saudi-led coalition's war on Yemen and the humanitarian crisis decried by the international bodies, world countries.
