The head of the Islamic Center of Jakarta said the history of Islamic civilization has demonstrated that the Muslim world can strengthen its unity by focusing on spirituality and Irfan (mysticism).

Speaking to IQNA, Hojat-ol-Islam Majid Hakim Elahi, who is also the Leader of the Islamic Revolution’s representative in Indonesia, said convergence in the Muslim world has always been stronger when there was an emphasis on spirituality and Irfan.
He also urged that Muslim countries’ governments should have a firm belief in the necessity of Islamic unity and make it a basis for their domestic and foreign policies.
The cleric added that efforts to eliminate biases, wrong attitudes and sectarianism are important for enhancing unity.
He underlined the role of Muslim leaders in this regard, saying they should take practical steps and pave the way for unity.
Another important thing to do is to show to everyone what damages disunity in the Islamic Ummah can bring about, he stated.
