Pakistani women condemn hijab ban in Indian colleges

Pakistani women have reacted against the recent hijab ban in Indian educational institutes voicing support for the choice of hijab by Indian university students.

A group of Pakistani women including the prominent rights activist Malala Yousafzai over the recent hijab row sparked in Karnataka, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
 
In a tweeter message issued on her account, Yousafzai called the ban on participation of girls with Islamic hijab as horrible calling on the Indian government and religious leaders to end the process of separation of Muslim women from others.
 
Six Muslim students in a girls’ college in Karnataka have been reportedly banned from school due to their Islamic hijab.
 
The incident has led to series of debates and rows over hijab restrictions for university students before the Indian government announced three day closure of educational centers in this state.
 
Muslim students have lodged a complaint in the supreme court of Karnataka claiming that to choose their outfit is their first right at the college and that Islamic hijab is part of their culture which should not be denied.
