Israeli media outlets reported that an Israeli man was seriously wounded on Thursday near the illegal Gush Etzion settlement bloc south of Bethlehem city.

The reports added that the 28-year-old was assaulted by a Palestinian armed with a screwdriver on a bus. The Palestinian man was then shot dead by an armed Israeli settler on the bus, the Israeli military said in a statement.

Israeli medics said three other people were treated at the scene for anxiety.

The official Palestinian news agency Wafa identified the victim as 30-year-old Nidal Juma’a Ja’afra, a resident of the village of Tarqoumya near al-Khalil in the southern occupied West Bank.

The incident took place shortly after at least two young Palestinian men were shot dead during confrontations with Israeli military forces at the Jenin refugee camp in the northern West Bank.

Palestinian sources, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the latest attack took place on Thursday morning when hundreds of soldiers, including members of the elite Duvdevan commando unit, raided the camp as part of attempts to arrest suspects throughout the West Bank.

Witnesses said residents clashed with the raiding forces, who fired live rounds and shot teargas canisters at the Palestinians.

According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, two young Palestinians were killed in the large-scale Israeli army incursion into the Jenin camp.

Wafa identified the victims as 17-year-old Sanad Abu Atiyeh, and Yazid al-Sa’adi, 23.

Palestinian health officials said that 14 Palestinians were hit by Israeli bullets, with three seriously wounded and one in moderate condition.

The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, reacted to the killing of the Palestinian man, saying such incidents will end in a stronger response from the Palestinians that will affect the entire occupied territories.

Meanwhile, the Palestinian Islamic Jihad resistance has declared a state of general mobilization of its armed wing, al-Quds Brigades, in response to the Israeli military's raid on the Jenin refugee camp.

“In the wake of the Israeli army's attack on the Jenin camp, we are announcing a general mobilization of al-Quds Brigades forces in all headquarters and areas,” Secretary General of the Islamic Jihad movement Ziyad al-Nakhalah said in a statement.

Based on the decision of the Islamic Jihad secretary general, “we announce the raising of full readiness among our fighters in all military formations,” al-Quds Brigades' spokesman Abu Hamza said.

Three separate operations by Palestinians in the span of eight days have killed 11 Israeli settlers, in a surge not witnessed in years, and which may continue.

On Tuesday night, a Palestinian man, identified as Diaa Hamarsheh, killed five people, including a security force, before being shot dead by security forces in the ultra-orthodox town of Bnei Brak, east of Tel Aviv.

On Sunday, two Palestinian gunmen killed two Israeli security forces and wounded four others in a shooting attack in the northern Israeli city of Hadera before they were shot dead.

It followed an attack on March 22, when a Palestinian man was fatally shot over an alleged stabbing attack near a shopping center in the southern Israeli city of Beersheba, which left four Israeli settlers dead.
