Morocco, Israel sign first science, technology coop deals
Israel and Morocco have signed their first deal for science and technology cooperation as the two countries have previously signed agreement for normalization of ties in December 2020.

Israeli Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Orit Farkash-Hacohen, issued a statement hailing the first agreement of its kind with Rabat regarding cooperation in several fields including artificial intelligence, agricultural technologies, water management, and water desalination.
Farkash-Hacohen in his speech during the event's opening ceremony lauded the events following the normalization known as Abraham Accords.
He expressed hope that the two states will work to advance technology and science.
The cooperation will reportedly include fields of space, renewable energy, water technologies, transportation, science, environment and health.
Expressing gratitude for the minister of research and innovation of Morocco for the joint work, Hacohen said the cooperation will also oversee the implementation of food processing technologies, development of biotechnologies, renewable and clean energies, medical and pharmaceutical industries, smart cities and the automotive industry, information technology and innovation in space.
This comes after Israel agreed to establish a joint research and development fund with the UAE to help reinforce common interests, including trade, technology, energy, and climate challenges, earlier this year.
This is while many countries have turned down proposal for normalization of relations with Tel Aviv regime.
Back in September 2020, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain signed normalization deals with Israel. Morocco and Sudan later signed similar agreements with the Israeli regime as well.
The so-called Abraham Accords were pushed by the US under former president Donald Trump.
Palestinians have denounced the normalization deals, describing them as a “stab in the back” and a “betrayal” to their cause.
Back in late November last year, the Iraqi Foreign Ministry reiterated Baghdad’s support for the Palestinian cause, stressing that the Arab country categorically rejects any normalization scheme with the Israeli regime.
Iraqi Parliament has recently passed a new law expressing support for the Palestinian cause and criminalizing normalization of relations with Israeli regime.
