Israeli police set up dozens of roadblocks, conducted extensive searches and checks on Palestinians and their ID cards, and prevented many of them from reaching the holy site.
Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, also known as Al-Haram Al-Sharif, houses the Dome of the Rock and Al-Aqsa Mosque in addition to several other worship areas. It is located in East Al-Quds city, a part of the internationally-recognized Palestinian territories that have been occupied by the Israeli military since 1967.
