Sheikh Abdul Mahdi al-Karbalaei, in his speech at the ceremony to hoist the mourning flag of Muharram called on Muslims to safeguard solidarity among them and prevent disagreement and conflict, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
 
In his speech delivered at the holy shrine of Imam Hussein (AS), third Shia Imam and grandson of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), he said,” Imam Hussein (AS) calls us to accept the responsibility for protecting his uprising and reform our egos and our families.”
 
“Imam Hussein (AS) calls us to avoid war and dispersion sparked over temporal interests,” said the senior cleric.
 
He urged all people to protect their solidarity and live at peace with each other.
 
Representative of Ayatollah Sistani made the comments at the ceremony to hoist the black flag of Muharram mourning ceremonies.
 
Millions of Shias across the globe mark the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein(AS), third Shia Imam and his companions in the Battle of Karbala back in 680 (AD) fighting the then tyrant ruler Yazid ibn Muawiyah.
