“Imam Hussein (AS), axis of unity among Islamic denominations”, cleric

Hujjat-ul-Islam Seyyed Mahdi Qureishi, in his speech at the first meeting of Friday prayers from Ifta council and clerics in West Azerbaijan province on unity strategies in view of late Imam Khomeini (RA) and Ayatollah Khamenei referring to the responsibilities of Friday prayer leaders enumerated by the Supreme Leader in the latest meeting with Friday prayer leaders, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).

He said,” To explain the stances of Islamic Revolution is a responsibility upon the Friday prayer leaders because they are spokesmen for the Islamic Republic system.”

Friday prayer leader of Urmia noted that Shia and Sunni Muslims, besides being compassionate and united, should stress their commonalities.

Hujjat-ul-Islam Quraishi offered condolences over the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein (AS) and said,” Loyalty to the third Shia Imam is among key axes shared by Shia and Sunni Muslims.”

He called on the religious scholars to explain the high character and special stance of Imam Hussein (AS) for Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) and added,” Undoubtedly Imam Hussein (AS) can be set as axis for unity between Shia and Sunni communities.”

Representative of Supreme Leader in Western Azerbaijan province made the comments in a meeting of Friday prayers and scholars in the province held on the early days of Muharram 2022 which marks the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein (AS), third Shia Imam and grandson of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) in the Battle of Karbala back in 680 AD.
