Gen. Soleimani, Abu Mahdi Muhandis foiled western plots

Head of Iraqi Sunni Scholars’ Union said the US cowardly targeted counter-terrorism commanders, General Soleimani and Abu Mahdi Muhandis in an operation since they foiled western plots.

Sheikh Khalid al-Mala, top Iraqi cleric in his remarks on the third martyrdom anniversary of the commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani, and Hashd al-Shabi deputy Abu Mahdi Muhandis said the US assassinated the two commanders since it could not defeat them, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
 
He said,” Enemies had aimed for topple of the capital Baghdad but General Soleimani and Abu Mahdi Muhandis firmly stood against them” vowing that the blood of the two martyrs had not been spilt in vain.
 
The cleric referred to the endeavors of General Soleimani and Abu Mahdi Muhandis who, together with the people in southern Iraq, stood against ISIL when the terrorist group began operations in the country.
 
Sheikh Khalid al Mala hailed the vast presence of the popular Mobilization Forces also known as Hashd al Shaabi in Iraq in order to confront threats and called for vigilance against soft warfare which targets image of clerics in Iraq.

The convoy of two counter-terrorism commanders,  Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani and Abu Mahdi Muhandis was targeted in a special operation by US forces near Baghdad International Airport on January 3rd, 2020.
