“Saudi Arabia granted scholarships to promote Wahhabism”
Manager of Islamia seminary in Dhaka referred to the western and Saudi plans for granting scholarships to Bangladeshi youths in order to promote Wahhabism back in the 1990s.

Mufti Iz’har al-Haq, manager of Islamia seminary in Dhaka, in a meeting with Hujjat-ul-Islam Hamid Shahriari, the Secretary General of World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought, condemned the western and Saudi plans for spreading Wahhabi ideology in Bangladesh, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
He referred to Sufism as the dominant denomination in the past and the misconceptions against Shia Islam and claims that Islam would annihilate once the Shias are empowered.
The Bangladeshi thinker called for further relations and study projects with Iran in a bid to settle the disagreements and boosting unity among Muslims.
Maulana Ahmad Meymoun, Bangladeshi author in this meeting referred to the two education systems in his country adding that the Persian language is a course on the curriculum of the traditional education system.
He said that the visit to Iran has changed some negative views on the Islamic Republic of Iran and that the achievements of the meetings will be reported to the Bangladeshi people.
Maulana Abdul Akhar, manager of the Matiji religious association in Dhaka, expressed hope that Islamic Republic of Iran will boost its ties with Bangladeshi scholars and settle the disagreements in order to take joint measures in line with promotion of Islam.
Delegation of Bangladeshi Sunni scholars visited a number of religious, educational and cultural centers in Iran and exchanged views on the issues challenging the world Muslims in meeting with senior Iranian religious figures.
