Hamas spokesperson, Abdel Latif al-Qanoa, in a statement issued Wednesday evening, said that Smotrich's comments are a "dangerous indicator of the scale of public incitement for Israeli settler militias to commit more state-sponsored massacres against our Palestinian people."

When asked at an economic conference why he liked a tweet that called to "wipe out" Huwara, Smotrich said: “Because I think the village of Huwara needs to be wiped out. I think the State of Israel should do it.”

Al-Qanoa called for an urgent international action to put an end to the Israeli occupation's extremism and violence and hold its leaders accountable for their crimes and racism against the Palestinian people.

Last Sunday, Jewish settlers carried out more than 320 attacks against Palestinian civilians and their property in several towns and villages near Nablus, killing one citizen, injuring hundreds more, and setting dozens of homes, stores, and cars on fire.
