A prominent scholar from al-Azhar called Muslims religious brothers for each other and warned against extremists as enemies rising against all religions.

Ahmad al-Shehata, attending the International Islamic Unity Conference in the Iraqi capital Baghdad, stressed the rights of Muslims to be maintained by their religious brothers, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
He said,” The Islamic denominations are obliged to protect religion, humanity and Islamic lands.”
The cleric warned of extremism for appearing in all denominations to divide the people and spark war among them.
He said,” Islam does not discriminate against any group of Muslims and all Muslims are religious brothers for each other as any address from the Almighty God does not discriminate Shias or Sunnis.”
Ahmad al-Shehata referred to Adhan, the holy month of Ramadan, prayers and Islamic declarations as commonalities of all Islamic denominations.
He stressed necessity of a treatment for sufferings in the world of Islam and said,” It is vital that Muslims end disagreements among them.”
Ahmad al-Shehata made the comments in his speech at the International Islamic Unity Conference in Baghdad on Saturday.
