Hujjat-ul-Islam Seyyed Abdul Fattah Navvab, in a meeting with his Turkish counterpart, Ali Erbas, called on the Hajj officials from different Islamic countries to jointly slam the Qur’an burning event in Stockholm, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
He called the great congress of Hajj as an opportunity to provide the grounds for further cooperation and interaction among Islamic countries.
The proposal comes after global protests against a recent Qur’an burning event held in the Swedish capital Stockholm concurrent with the Islamic holiday Eid al-Adha.
A 37-year old Iraqi-descent man tore pages of Qur’an and set the holy book ablaze as authorized by Sweden government, a move which has irked Muslims across the world.
The senior Iranian cleric met with other Hajj officials at a feast held by Turkish representative to Hajj 2023 and exchanged views on the Muslim world issues especially the issue of Palestine.
Ali Erbas highlighted the role of Hajj pilgrimage in boosting solidarity among Muslims and urged for more interaction among Muslim elites from different Islamic countries.
