Top Shia cleric stresses justice, counter-oppression fight
Iraqi top Shia jurist, Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Sistani, has stressed importance of prevalence of justice and fight against oppression.

On the second anniversary of Pope Francis’ trip to Iraq, the senior Iraqi scholar wrote a letter to the pontiff to hail a meeting that encouraged followers of Islam and Christianity to value reconciliation and coexistence, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
Ayatollah Sistani highlighted a number of topics including: to merge efforts for promoting coexistence, to fight violence and hate speech as well as to solidify values of peace among people.
He stressed more efforts in defense of the oppressed people across the globe and said,” I believe the issues challenging many nations and ethnical groups is a result of ideological and religious crackdown and lack of social justice.”
The Shia cleric said,” It is vital that all people endeavor to eliminate oppression and spare no effort to promote justice in all societies.”
He reiterated the role of religious beliefs and commitment to moral values in overcoming the challenges modern man is facing.
