Abbasi noted, "Much has been said about unity and proximity of Islamic schools of thought and followers of Islamic schools of thought. Within the years there have been much talks at this conference and other forums about unity, the need for unity, and negative consequences of dispersion."
"Enmity and hostility are a satanic action; Affection and unity are God’s mercy and blessing. That’s word of God. We all believe in it and do know that dispersion and conflict do dishearten Islamic Ummah and result in lessening authority of Islamic Ummah and the world of Islam."
The thinker noted, ” So, unity, importance of unity, and the need for unity are among issues on which all are in consensus. What’s remaining for discussion and talks are the quality of cooperation, the grounds for cooperation, expansion of unity and helping such a unity. Muslims have over the past two centuries had bitter experiences of dispersion. Extensive parts of lands in the world of Islam were dominated by colonialism in the two centuries."
Due to the same reason, had there been unity in the world of Islam, they would not have lost extensive portion of the world of Islam in the bitter period of colonialism. Islamic lands were occupied and Muslim nations suffered many damages as their wealth were plundered by colonialists. In recent decades, model of colonialism has been changed and the world of Islam witnessed the same bitter results again because of dispersion and isolation, Abbasi stressed.
The thinker concluded, "Cooperation does not mean having no difference of opinion. We may have difference of opinion in certain areas but cooperate in action. Different institutions can expand the cooperation. Our religious centers are well known, pivotal and well-credited centers with historical position among Islamic Ummah. They should expand cooperation."
