Lebanese thinker: West aims to change basic values for their benefits
Lebanese thinker Dr. Talal Al-Etrisi says there are some people in Western societies who try to change values. Of course, these people are mostly those who hold some posts in western communities.

The thinker in his speech noted, “Today, we are facing big crises in the world of Islam. The most outstanding and major crisis is crisis of values. We consider Islamic values as fixed and genuine values. The values stem from religious ethics and religion. On the other hand, we are still facing the challenges of certain people who have been trying to show values changing and not fixed and genuine. The aim of these groups of people and groups has been to pretend that there is nothing named value or fixed value. Today, we in the world of Islam face such a challenge.”
Today, there are some people in western societies who try to change values, Lebanese thinker said, noting, “Of course, these people are mostly those who hold some posts in western communities. They want to say values are made in society and therefore, there is nothing called, “fixed values.” They want to say we do not have anything entitled genuine family and we can have many families at the same time. Under such conditions, we should fulfil our role of defining. Confronting such a hegemony requires having immediate cooperation to draw up horizons to the common cooperation and stabilize Islamic culture and principles of Islamic culture. Today, all of us know that what Islam is made distinctive of others is its dimension of moral values.”
Talal Al-Etrisi stated, “The main goal of what is done today is ruining and removing Islamic values and replacing them with diversionary human desires. That’s an important point that should be taken into consideration. Today, we face enormous challenges. Islamic countries constitute essential, influential and undeniable part of the world. The countries have in the past long years taken important and positive steps to cooperate with one another. Today, we are institutionalizing cultural values. Eventual materialization of such an important goal will be possible through cooperation among Islamic countries. Institutionaliation of cultural values is one of the main and essential goals of Islamic Unity Conference since its establishment over the past 35 years. Proximity, cooperation and brotherhood have always been the goals of this conference.”
