Iran's Acting Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri Kani in a telephone call with Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf has proposed an extraordinary meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to discuss the ways for an end to Israeli atrocities in the besieged Gaza Strip.

During a telephone call with Attaf on Friday, Bagheri Kani discussed the latest developments in the Gaza war, the Zionist regime's crimes in Gaza and Rafah, and also the bilateral cooperation between Tehran and Algiers.

Bagheri Kani described the recent Israeli brutal attacks on Palestinian tent camp in Rafah, which led to the martyrdom of a large number of Palestinian women and children as another instance of ongoing Israeli atrocities in history.

Iranian official thanked the initiative of the Algerian government to present a draft resolution to stop the attacks by Israeli regime, urging for a joint emergency action by Islamic countries in stopping the crimes of the occupying regime against the Palestinian people and increasing humanitarian aid to the Palestinians in Gaza.

Attaf, for his part, welcomed collective and immediate initiative of Islamic countries to achieve a ceasefire and alleviate the suffering of Palestinians living in Gaza.
