Hamas welcomes UNSC resolution for permanent ceasefire in Gaza

The UN Security Council has finally approved a resolution for an immediate ceasefire in the besieged Gaza Strip.

The UNSC has approved a resolution aimed at permanently ending Israeli genocidal war on Gaza for the first time since the regime began its killing campaign, with 14 votes in favor and one abstention from Russia.
 
The Palestinian ambassador to the UN, Riyadh Mansour has welcomed as a “step in the right direction” the passing of the resolution.

The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas has also hailed the UNSC resolution announcing readiness to cooperate with mediators on implementation of the ceasefire plan.

The group welcomed the resolution that emphasized the permanent ceasefire in Gaza, the complete withdrawal of the Israeli forces, and the prisoners’ exchange.

It also said it approved of the plan’s other provisions, namely “the reconstruction [of the Gaza Strip], the return of the displaced to their areas of residence, the rejection of any demographic change or reduction in the area of Gaza, and the delivery of needed aid to our people in the strip.”

The UNSC resolution comes on day 248 of the deadly war launched by Israeli regime on October seven leaving behind a trail of death and destruction.
 
The total number of Palestinians killed in Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza since October 7 exceeded 37,100 with more than 84,700 wounded, most of them women and children.
