UNRWA warns of catastrophic environmental disaster in Gaza
The UN agency for Palestinians (UNRWA) has warned against a catastrophic environmental and health risk in the Gaza Strip.

In a post on X, UNRWA said that "as of 9 June, over 330,000 tons of waste have accumulated in or near populated areas across Gaza, posing catastrophic environmental & health risks. Children rummage through trash daily."
UNRWA stressed the dire need for unimpeded humanitarian access and immediate ceasefire as crucial necessities to restore humane living conditions," it added.
The Israeli occupation forces' aggression on land, sea and air against the Gaza Strip began on October 7, 2023, and has so far resulted in the killing of more than 37,202 people and injuring of 84,932 others, while thousands of victims remain under the rubble.
