10-month-old confirmed as Gaza's first polio case in 25 years

The Palestinian Health Ministry yesterday confirmed the first polio virus case in the Gaza Strip in 25 years.
10-month-old confirmed as Gaza
The ministry added that it is in the process of developing “a comprehensive and integrated plan” to carry out a vaccination campaign for children in Gaza.
Early , UN chief Antonio Guterres stressed the severe humanitarian crisis in Gaza and called for a critical “polio pause” to facilitate a major vaccination campaign in Gaza.
Polio virus was detected in the sewage in Gaza at the end of July, with Israel taking immediate access to vaccinate its troops. However no  similar campaign has been allowed for Palestinians in the enclave.
The World Health Organisation (WHO) said it was sending one million vaccines to the Strip, however the relentless bombing campaign and Israeli restrictions on the entry of aid have meant there has not been a widespread drive to vaccinate Palestinians in the enclave.
