The agency explained in a statement issued on Tuesday that the Israeli army stopped the UN convoy heading to northern Gaza yesterday to carry out the vaccination campaign, threatening with weapons and detaining its staff, and its bulldozers caused damage to its vehicles.
The Palestinian health ministry has been leading the vaccination campaign in the Gaza Strip in cooperation with the World Health Organization, the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), and the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).
The vaccination was launched after a Gaza toddler was confirmed to have contracted polio, the first of the disease found in the besieged war-torn strip after 25 years.
