Cleric calls for enrichment of a shared Islamic identity in Muslim world

A senior Iranian cleric has counted the principles to maintain Islamic ethics and a shared Islamic identity among world Muslims.

Sheikh Yusof Jamali, in his speech addressing the 14th webinar of the 38th Islamic Unity Conference highlighted importance of Islamic ethics and counted the ways through which Muslims should develop a shared Islamic identity, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
 
He underlined importance of maintaining ethics for boosting mutual respect in the body of the Islamic nation where people are the different members.
 
The cleric also counted justice and fairness as two other principles that must be maintained among the members of the Islamic society.
 
He said,” Enriching a common identity in Islamic societies is another aspect that will contribute to coexistence and peacefully settling of the issues among Muslims.”
 
Sheikh Yousof Jamali made the comments in as address to the Shia and Sunni elites from across the globe in the first section of the 38th Islamic Unity Conference entitled "Islamic cooperation to achieve common values with an emphasis on the Palestinian issue" held on September 14-20.
 
The second section of the annual event is scheduled to be held on September 19-21 in Tehran with hundreds of the religious figures and officials in attendance.
 
Iran’s World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought annually holds the Islamic Unity Conference concurrent with the Islamic Unity Week that marks the birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH).
