Leader calls for transformation of seminaries according to modern necessities

The Leader of the Islamic Republic, Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei, has called for transformation of the seminaries hailing the establishment of a center for higher religious education of women.

Ayatollah Khamenei made the remarks in a meeting with a number of the students, professors and staff from the women’s Jameat-al’Zahra Seminary, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).

The Leader, in this meeting held on Wednesday morning, stressed necessity of bringing the seminaries up to date in face of the modern issues challenging societies.

Ayatollah Khamenei referred to the numerous damages caused by the infiltration of the western culture to the society of women during the Reza Shah Pahlavi (1878-1944) including the lack of a center for religious education of the women and highlighted the role of Jameat-al’Zahra Seminary for educating women in Iran.

The Leader called expansion of religious teachings among the public as the prelude to a move towards Islamic civilization and said,” Propagating and explaining religious thoughts as well as revival of the religion is the other key mission for Jameat-al’Zahra Seminary.”

Ayatollah Khamenei reiterated,” If the pious and religious figures are in control, the society and humanity will transcend but without that, transformation will go astray.”

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution emphasized the necessity of updating the text books and teaching methodology in seminaries in order that they include the necessities of the society like economic and financial issues, governing, family and modern affairs including cryptocurrency.”

Ayatollah Khamenei said,” Opposition with promotion of seminaries is opposition with promotion of religion in the country”, stressing that those qualified must be in charge of the transformation in the seminaries.
