Hamas says stopping Israeli war is ‘top priority’

The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, said on Sunday evening that stopping the Israeli war on Gaza is its top priority and that it rejects any agreements that do not bring an end to the occupation regime’s offensive.

The movement called on the Palestinian masses to escalate all forms of resistance against the occupation.
“For 415 days now, the occupation state is continuing its genocidal war against our people in Gaza, amidst weak and disappointing Arab and Islamic positions,” noted Abu Zuhri. “The pure blood and immense sacrifices will not be in vain; they will fuel the resistance until our land is liberated.”
The official pointed out that Hamas is conducting a broad campaign with international organisations and friendly nations to expedite the delivery of aid to Gaza. He stressed that the occupation regime is delusional if it believes that it can achieve its objectives. “Gaza has always been and will remain Palestinian.”
Abu Zuhri then criticised the escalation of settlement policies by the occupation government in Jerusalem and the West Bank. “This is a blatant violation of our people’s rights. Moreover, settlement projects and Zionist crimes will not succeed in altering the truths of history, and Jerusalem will remain the capital of Palestine.”
All of Israel’s settlements and settlers are illegal under international law, a fact reiterated by the International Court of Justice in July. Earlier this month, the UK government accepted the court’s ruling.
Hamas called on the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation and the UN to confront settlement projects in the West Bank and Jerusalem. The movement also urged the Biden administration in Washington “to atone for its sin by pressuring the occupation to stop its crimes against our people.”
