Red Crescent condemns Israeli killing of over 1,000 of its Gaza medical personnel

An official of the Palestinian Red Crescent has denounced Israeli regime for deliberate killing of its medical workers in Gaza since October 7, 2023.

Bashar Murad, the director of health programs in Gaza said the Israeli regime deliberately and systematically killed 1,056 and abducted 350 others in the besieged strip.

Murad confirmed severe violations against health workers in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, whether they are paramedics or primary care teams, as well as those in Palestinian hospitals.

He noted that four branches of the Red Crescent have been directly targeted, with large parts of them destroyed, including the Jabalia branch in northern Gaza.

Murad added that Al-Amal Complex, the largest center of the Palestinian Red Crescent in Gaza City, was also targeted, resulting in the deaths of 47 martyrs at that time, including medical and paramedic staff, as well as displaced persons who sought refuge there, estimated to number 14,000.

He indicated that about 80% of the society’s resources have been systematically and deliberately destroyed in the Gaza Strip, despite the fact that the Red Crescent and the Red Cross are considered protected international entities under international law in areas of war and conflict.

He pointed out that 32 Red Crescent personnel have been martyred due to the Israeli war machine, most of whom were directly and deliberately targeted while performing their duties in the Gaza Strip.
