Iran’s holy city of Mashhad hosts 41st Int. Qur’an competitions
The 41st edition of the International Qur’an Competition is underway in the Iranian holy city of Mashhad with hundreds of reciters from across the world in attendance.
The event marks the first edition of the competition hosted by the holy shrine of Imam Reza (AS), the eighth Shia Imam and grandson of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
The 41st International Qur’an Competition underscores the importance of Quranic teachings and the role of the holy shrine in promoting religious education and cultural exchange.
A number of top officials, among them Iran’s Judiciary chief Hujjat-ul-Islam Mohseni Ejei, Friday prayer leader of Mashhad, Ayatollah Sayyed Ahmad Alam-ulhoda, the custodian of Astan Quds Razavi, Ayatollah Marvi and also the head of the Endowments and Charity Affairs Organization.

The event will continue with competitions in five categories from January 27-31 showcasing the unity and resilience of the Muslim community, drawing participants and audience from around the world.
