PNA Speaker urges international pressure to hold Israel to account for its aggression on Palestinians

The Speaker of the Palestinian National Council, Rawhi Fattouh, emphasized today that the implementation of United Nations resolutions regarding the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital, along with the withdrawal of Israeli occupation from Palestinian territories occupied in 1967, is a fundamental step toward achieving peace and stability in the region.

Fattouh called for this stance to go beyond mere statements, urging it to become a genuine international commitment and active practice by the global community. He stressed the need for significant pressure on Israel to halt its ongoing violations and assaults against the Palestinian people and their land.
He further clarified that a political solution must involve restoring the legitimate national rights of the Palestinian people and ending the occupation, achieved through serious negotiations that would end the ongoing suffering of the Palestinian people.
The Speaker also underscored the necessity of establishing a lasting ceasefire in Gaza, allowing for the immediate and unobstructed delivery of humanitarian aid to the besieged territory, and opening border crossings to alleviate the daily hardships faced by Gaza's citizens. These actions, he stated, are a fundamental humanitarian right protected by international and United Nations law.
Fattouh concluded by calling on the international community to take responsibility for holding Israel accountable for its ongoing crimes and to work seriously to fulfill the aspirations of the Palestinian people for freedom, justice, and the establishment of an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.
