The Zionist entity condemned the Organization of Culture and Science of the United Nations, UNESCO's recognition of the full membership of Palestine by a majority of 107 votes and the opposition of 14, with omission of 52 countries.
Zionist Ministry of Foreign issued a statement in Quds, saying that Israel will consider the continuation of its cooperation with UNESCO, describing the step as a Palestinian unilateralism maneuver that will not lead to a change on the ground and away the chances of reaching a peace agreement, adding that the only way to make progress with the Palestinians is by direct negotiations without preconditions, also expressed the for the inability of the European Union that works for the resumption of direct negotiations and oppose the Palestinian step to reach a unified position on the subject.
UNESCO's voting on Palestinian state as a permanent member of the organization led to a tough response from the American administration, a spokeswoman for the U.S. State Department, Victoria Nuland said the United States decided to suspend the assistance of UNESCO, which is equal to 60 millions U.S. $.
Noland said that the voting does not allow the United States to continue to fund the organization because of the prohibition of financing of those who recognize Palestine as a state before reaching a peace agreement.
State Department spokeswoman, explained that the vote was premature and detrimental to the common goal of peace between "Israel" and the Palestinians.
The United States has strongly opposed the move and launched a highly critical about it a month ago when the administrative committee of UNESCO recommended the membership for the Palestinian state.
UNESCO will lose about one-fifth of its budget due to the U.S. threat, a responsible in the organization views that the loss of U.S. aid would lead to a reduction in programs and human resources.
Among the opponents of the membership of Palestine, the Zionist entity and the United States, Germany, Australia, Canada, Brazil, Russia, China, India and South Africa.
France decided to support the membership in spite of previous statements of the French foreign minister, who believed earlier that the time and place were not suitable to Palestine for a membership in the Organization, from the other hand the UK abstained from voting.
