Iranian Ambassador to Beirut

offers solution to Lebanon's electricity conundrum

TNA - Beirut
offers solution to Lebanon

Iran proposed to supply Lebanon\'s need for 1000 Megawatts (MW) of electricity feed, an amount which ambassador of the Persian state described as "modest" during his visit Saturday to Foreign Minister (FM) Adnan Mansour, whereby he delivered a hand written letter addressed from Iranian FM, Ali Akbar Salihy.

Lebanon has constantly suffered from shortage of electricity feed, whereby the capital gets the most supply with 21 hours of electricity out of the 24, when all is going well. The rest of the country continued to endure continuous blackouts, a thing which led many to take to the streets in frustration.

"We found that the road is paved for Iran to carry out its offer," explained ambassador Ghazanfar Ruken Abadi, "a part will be based on supplying electricity from Iran via Syria to Lebanon, and the other part would involve building power plants [in Lebanon]."

"We currently export 25 thousand MW, and have an access of six thousand MW of electricity production; thus, we can solve this issue with ease and the soonest possible."
