"The Turkish nation has had a worthy place and contribution in the development of Islamic civilization and culture and the spread of ethics and human values, and even today they play an effective role in supporting the oppressed Palestinian nation," Amir-Abdollahian said.
The Iranian foreign minister said that Tehran and Ankara, as two powerful countries in the region, could contribute to creating stability in West Asia.
Mr. Turkmenoglu, for his part, appreciated Iran's support for the Palestinian people and strongly condemned the "Israeli terrorist attack" on the consular section of the Iranian embassy in Damascus.
He also emphasized the need to stop the "genocide in Gaza" to reduce tensions in the region.
The two officials also discussed the growing economic and trade relations between Iran and Turkey, with Mr. Turkmenoglu saying the Turkish Parliament supports the promotion of ties between the two countries.
