An Iranian oil tanker is to head back to the country following a failed attempt by the United States to steal the cargo, Iran’s embassy in Greece announced on Saturday.
According to a statement issued by Iran’s Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO) on Tuesday, the Greek government ordered the release of the ship and its cargo even though Washington was exerting sustained efforts to do otherwise.
In a tweet on Thursday, Rear Admiral Ali Shamkhani wrote: " The change in Greece's behavior after Iran's proportionate and authoritarian response to seizure of its oil tanker, along with dozens of other experiences, shows that the only way to defend the country's rights against bullying, whether in JCPOA or IAEA is reciprocity."
In his message to his Greek counterpart, President Ebrahim Raisi expressed hope that, with the joint efforts of the two countries' officials, the relations between Iran and Greece would be further expanded in order to ensure the mutual interests of the two nations.
