Following the order of President Ebrahim Raisi regarding the follow-up of the issue of Iran's water rights in Hirmand, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian had a telephone call with Afghanistan's Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Amir Khan Motaghi on Thursday night.
Iranian President Seyyed Ebrahim Raeisi has urged for “serious pursuit” of the country’s water rights from Hilmand River which has for long been contoversial between Tehran and Kabul.
Speaking in the meeting of the Council of Ministers on Wednesday morning, Ebrahim Raisi tasked the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Energy to follow up on Iran's water share from the Hirmand River and said, "The Popular Administration will not hesitate to pursue the rights of the nation in any way."
The Foreign Minister said: "Despite the obstructions by some certian people in Afghanistan, many efforts have been made by the Islamic Republic of Iran."
