Iran and Armenia have long historical relations, and in recent years there has been a serious determination on both sides to strengthen political, economic and other relations.

Ali Akbar Mehrabian, Minister of Energy of Iran, said: "Currently, Iran's power grid has been connected to seven neighboring countries; Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq, Turkey, Armenia, the Republic of Azerbaijan, and Turkmenistan, and we have the possibility of electricity swap and plan to connect the grid with Qatar as well."
