Iranian doctors treating retina-related diseases with new method

Preliminary results obtained from Iranian doctors' research at the country's southern ophthalmology pole suggest a big achievement in treatment of retina-related diseases.

Researchers at al-Zahra research center in southern Iranian province of Zahedan managed to treat different retina-related diseases in people with diabetes, the elderly or premature infants through an economical method without any side effect, said Head of the research center Alireza Maleki.

He added these surgeries showed promising results, and the patients started to get better shortly after the operations. The researchers separated plasmin enzyme from the patient's blood and injected it into his eye.

He added the newly-developed method has the minimum side effects and is very economical.

The method which has been under the monopoly of only some countries so far will save great amount of the country's currency.
