Iranian short animated piece ‘The Servant’ directed by Farnoush Abedi has won the award for Best Animated Film in Horrible Imaginings Film Festival in San Diego, California.

'The Servant' which has recently won FRESCO’s Best Animation Certificate alongside other international awards, narrates the familiar story of a master and his servant, the story of a writer’s encounter with a gigantic insect: a cockroach.

Other notable awards won by Abedi’s animated production include Best Animation Award at 40th Elche International Independent Film Festival in Spain, Best short animation award for February at London Independent Film Festival, second Best Animation Award at the 20th San Francisco Black Film Festival (SFBFF), and Best Short Animation award at the 2017 Silver Scream Festival in California, US.

The Horrible Imaginings Film Festival is a nonprofit organization that showcases art and films exploring the darker or more macabre sides of the human condition. The festival was founded in 2010 by Miguel Rodriguez in San Diego, California in order to promote and spotlight exemplary new artistic voices in what is commonly known as the horror genre.

The 7th edition of the festival was held on on September 8-10, 2017, in San Diego, California, USA.
