Guardians at the holy shrine of Imam Reza (AS) hoist the black flag for the mourning month of Muharram commemorating the sacrifices made by Imam Hussein (AS) the third Shia Imam and grandson of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) in the Battle of Karbala back in 680 AD.
