Muslims across the globe observe the fasting month of Ramadan, ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar. They abstain from eating and drinking from dawn to dusk. Qur'an recitation, daily communal prayers, charity activities, feeding the poor and having family Iftar meals are among the traditions during Ramadan.
