Muharram mourning procession held in Yazd (photo)

Muslim people in Iran’s central city of Yazd mark the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Sajjad, fourth Shia Imam and grandson of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) on 13th of Muharram. Shias across the globe mourn the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein (AS), third Shia Imam, and 72 of his companions During the first ten days of Muharram. Imam Hussein (AS) and his companions were martyred in the Battle of Karbala fighting the tyrant ruler of the time, Yazid ibn Muawiyah in 680 AD.
