Iran’s nuclear right should be respected: Pak Prof
A Pakistani academic here Wednesday asked Western countries to change their approach towards Iran’s peaceful nuclear program and not to adopt discriminatory polices towards the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Talking to IRNA Chairman Mass Communication Department of Allama Iqbal Open University, Dr. Syed Abdul Siraj added that Iran is developing a nuclear program only to cater growing energy demands.
The analyst was of the view that the stance of Iran regarding development of nuclear program is justified and should be respected without any ill will.
“Technology has no religion and every country has a right to acquire technology for betterment of its people”, he said. The researcher endorsed the statement of Iran's Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi who had said that Tehran's willingness to cooperate in the pursuit of its nuclear program requires a show of goodwill on the part of the West.
“Iran is a responsible country and has always preferred cooperation rather than confrontation”, said Dr. Siraj. “Being a university professor I welcome the statement of Iran’s foreign minister”, he stated. He was of the view that the gesture shown by Iran over nuclear program should be welcomed worldwide.
Iran being the signatory of Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) can use nuclear energy for peaceful means yet U.S. and West have been suspecting on Iran’s nuclear program saying that Iran is trying to build an atomic bomb, which the Iran has strongly denied.
Dr. Syed Abdul Siraj strongly believed that West has to change its mindset towards Iran if it wants to have good relations with Iran. “There should be no opposition for the sake of opposition”, he pointed out.
Iran's Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi has further said that the Islamic Republic of Iran has persistently sought cooperation and interaction rather than confrontation and has remained prepared to collaborate within the internationally recognized norms and conventions.
“I don’t see any further opposition against Iran especially after the statement of Iran’s foreign minister”, Dr. Syed Abdul Siraj said.
He said that in the coming days, nuclear energy would play an important role in addressing energy demands and Iran should develop this energy as early as possible.
The scholar viewed that every country has a right to guard its national interests and Iran is only doing so.
The IAEA has once again confirmed the peaceful nature of Iran's nuclear energy program, reaffirming that the program has never been diverted to nuclear weapons production.
