Hujjat-ol-Islam Mohammad Hassan Akhtari, Secretary General of Ahlul Bayt (AS) World Assembly, sent a letter to Egyptian scholar Yusuf al Qardawi accusing him of intensifying clashes among Muslims and desecration of Islamic sanctities, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
Iranian cleric in part of his letter referred to Qardawi remarks against Islamic Republic of Iran and Lebanon Hezbollah and said these remarks would eventually lead to fueling sectarian and religious clashes in Muslim world noting,” This is while world Muslims are in dire need of unity to confront international intrigues, sectarianism, violence and terrorism.”
In part of his letter Iranian scholar wrote,” What has happened or is underway at the moment including, terror attacks, targeting mosques, assassination of Muslim ulima (scholars), desecration of Islamic sanctities and burning holy Qur’an and other Islamic scripts are all due to your not condemning and not announcing your disavowal.”
Hujjat-ol-Islam Akhtari also condemned issuing dispersing fatwas by some Islamic figures and wrote,” Issuing fatwas by clerics like you for legitimizing heinous crimes by Takfiri groups and your silence in front of those who dismembered the dead bodies and ate their hearts, ended in such inhumane crimes.” And added,” Unfortunately the enemies made the best of your remarks and fatwas and made a bridge to ensure his interests.”
He rejected the remarks of Egyptian cleric on violation of the rights of Sunni Muslims in Iran and said it is known to all that Sunni communities live in full peace with their Shia brothers and a similar unity to what is underway in Iran cannot be found in other Islamic or Arab countries.
Iranian religious figure also touched upon the issue of Syria and wrote while many try to put a peaceful end to the crisis in Syria, your provoking remarks realize the objectives of the enemies and pave the way for promotion of Takfiri thoughts.
“We all expect you to resist and help Arab Muslims in their awakening against tyrant rulers.” Secretary General of Ahlul Bayt (AS) World Assembly wrote addressing Yusuf al Qardawi and added he who supports Takfiri terrorists will stand responsible for each drop of blood that is shed in Islamic countries.
In another part of his letter he referred to the international agreements between Islamic countries and wrote,” Your remarks are in contrast with the objectives of the International Union of Muslim Ulema (Scholars) in line with confrontation with bigotry and dispersing intrigues.”
Hujjat-ol-Islam Akhtari concluded with the regret that an Islamic scientific group maintains stances that promotes disunity and intensifies religious clashes among Muslim communities.
Sheikh Yusuf al Qardawi, attended Doha meeting in June 2013, where he called Sunni Muslims to go to Syria and fight against Bashar Assad government. He also claimed that Iran and the Hezbollah want to exterminate, to “devour” the Sunnis.
