Lebanon int'l webinar marks Ayatollah Taskhiri over proximity efforts
International webinar attended by Muslim and Christian intellectuals was held on Friday to mark the recently demised Iranian proximity figure, Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Taskhiri.

Iran's cultural attaché in Lebanon has held international webinar to mark years of endeavors by Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Taskhiri, advisor of the Supreme Leader in Muslim world affairs and a harbinger of proximity, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
Prominent Muslim and Christian scholars from Iran and Lebanon highlighted the different professional aspects and personal traits of the late Iranian cleric in this online event and lauded the scholar for years of effort to promote solidarity among Muslims.
Abbas Khamehyar, Iran's cultural attaché in this webinar noted that Ayatollah Taskhiri convened different religions and denominations both during his life and after his demise.
Sheikh Ali al-Khatib, deputy of Lebanon's Supreme Shia council referred to deep understanding of Ayatollah Taskhiri on necessity of calling all Muslims to Islamic unity and struggled to build solidarity and highlight commonalities among different Islamic denominations.
Sheikh Mahir Hamoud, secretary general of Union of Resistance scholars in this webinar called the late advisor of Supreme Leader as a role model whose path of interfaith relations should be pursued by all scholars in the world of Islam.
"Our unity is confronted by western arrogant powers, Zionists and several challenges as enemies are trying to dominate our Islamic nation" said the Lebanese scholar and added," This is while clerics like Ayatollah Taskhiri have brought opportunities to focus on commonalities among Muslims as a way to confront these challenges."
Sheikh Mohammad al-Maw'ed, member of Palestine's council of scholars in his remarks lauded Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Taskhiri for serious pursuit of liberation of Palestine.
Archbishop Antoine Dhoey, secretary general of committee for Islam-Christianity dialogue praised Ayatollah Taskhiri as the first figure in dialogue between the two religions who visited the Vatican.
Lebanese scholar made the comments in a webinar on top Islamic proximity figure held by Iran's cultural attaché in Lebanon as a number of other senior Muslim and Christian thinkers related on the high character of Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Taskhiri.
Senior Iranian scholar was globally known for over five decades of struggle to promote Islamic teachings and boosting solidarity among different denominations.
